When visiting Bombay, I am naturally playing safe and sticking by my favourite bars and dine-ins. However, this time, I decided to visit the very intriguing The Bar Stock Exchange in Bandra Kurla Complex and I am definitely glad I did.
Applying the simple concept of a stock exchange, here the prices of the liquor rise and fall depending upon the demand. For instance: if your favourite drink is much demanded by the others in the crowd, expect to pay more for it. However, if you’re the one with a rare taste then, you may be able to pay as less as Rs. 10. And since there are very few things in life like cheap alcohol, go invest!
With the debut branch in Oshiwara, The Bar Stock Exchange BKC is a semi-open space with faint music and overcrowded corners. I visited on a Saturday night but testomoinies have it that it is as busy on Fridays and Sundays. My tip: Go early or very late to get yourself a table and the staffers’ attention. I had to wait a disappointing 40-minute for my first drink!
What I drank: Mojito for Rs. 250 (which rose to Rs 295 in an hour) and Heineken for Rs. 175.
What I thought: Great concept but they definitely need to improve on their service. They also have iOS and Android apps where you can speculate, choose and order your drinks.
Will I go back: May be for a quick drink, on an early evening.
Getting there: 1st Floor, Club House Equinox Business Park, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai, Maharashtra.
Hours: 12:30 PM to 1:30 AM.
